Winterlude 2013
Artists participating in the 35th Annual Winterlude Festival sculpted a variety of stunning Ice Sculptures in Confederation Park for Winterlude-goers to enjoy. Among the sculptures was a sculpture presented by Veterans Affairs Canada to recognize Canada's friendship with South Korea. As a special gift to Canada, South Korea's Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival, Art and Culture Foundation, displayed a magical tunnel of colourful lanterns. With a history dating back to 1592 the Garden of Lanterns is one of the oldest Korean Festivals.
Performances
Keeping the Ottawa Winterlude audience warm on a cold Feburary night was Montreal group, "INSOLITA" in collaboration with "LOOK UP AERIAL ARTS". The magical performance resonated with rythmic sounds and was combined with video, lights and a pyrotechnics show. The concert which was held at and on Ottawa's City Hall was remarkably free for all those who braved the cold to attend. The concert also celebrated explorer Samuel de Champlain who made passage through the area 400 years earlier.
